Date Day With My Mama: A Look Into My Life Post Grad And My "REAL" Thoughts On Adulting
When You Really Need A Date Day With Your Mama To Laugh About All The Things
It's a nice Tuesday evening as I am sitting here writing this post and I am just reminiscing on a little coffee date that my mama and I had recently. Honestly, getting coffee with my mama is one of my favorite past times and probably forever will be. I don't care how old I get, I'm going to ALWAYS make time for a little coffee and chat with favorite mama ever. Well, she's my only mama but you guys get the point, ha! Anyways, on our little chat, I confided in my mama about college, what my life has been like post-grad and so many other life-related things that I wanted to vent and laugh about at the same time!

One thing is for sure, my mama sure does know how to keep me on track! I am very thankful that I have an old school mama who will give me all of the answers to life so that I won't have to navigate my twenties alone! I honestly feel like my twenties are a scary place to be yet I am struggling with the fact that they are almost over! I remember growing up dreaming about what it was like to be an adult and now that I am here I feel like I have been bamboozled! Ha! Ok, it's not that bad BUT it's not a walk in the park either! I already know that nothing in life is easy but sometimes you just gotta roll with it!

At the end of the day, sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself and all of the decisions that you make in life. As I was talking to my mama about my life post-grad, she assured me that I was on the right track and that I was smart about taking a break before I started to pursue graduate school. You see, I am headstrong by nature and If I could have gone straight through undergrad straight into grad I probably would have. Now that I am looking back on it, I am very glad that I didn't take that route. Not only was I unsure about what I wanted to do with my life BUT I also knew that I didn't want to figure it out while I was in school! Since I haven't been in school, I can say that I used this time wisely to figure out my next steps in life. I am VERY grateful that I have parents who not only supported me in my dance endeavors but also encouraged me to take my time to think about my next career path. #bestever

My Thoughts On Adulting
  • No one ever told me it would be this difficult to make life decisions on my own. Sometimes I wish I could go back to the old days when my parents told me what to do every waking second of my life but I don't have that luxury anymore! I feel like it's both a good thing because not only does it allow me to grow but it also teaches me to be more disciplined when it comes to my personal decision making.
  • I am learning that I can't turn back the hands of time! I'll let you guys marinate on that one!!
  • Why are bills coming around every five seconds?? Any time that my parents ever told me "no" I know understand sooooo much more why they had to make that decision. Unfortunately, money doesn't grow on trees and that has been the hardest lesson in my life thus far! Ha!
  • You guys, the economy! I never realized how bad it was until I looked around me and realized the realities of what it takes to live a decent life in America. This has motivated me to continue my education so that I can make sure that I have secured the bag for my future family, responsibilities, and lifestyle.
  • And last but not least, I have learned to take it easy and not stress about things I cannot control. I know that being an adult is hard but at the end of the day, it's about the learning curve and there's no need in me stressing about things that are apart of the process.
Date Day With My Mama: A Look Into My Life Post Grad And My "REAL" Thoughts On Adulting
I can honestly go on and on and on and on about adulthood BUT there's not a blog post long enough for this topic! I have come to terms about my life and what I need to do to become successful and I am ready to take those actions. I would encourage anyone in their twenties to slow down and don't sweat the small stuff. Society always tells us that we should all have it together by the time that we're 25 and that's simply not true. The sooner I was able to come to that conclusion that I can't control everything the better I have been able to navigate my life. I am proud to say that I am still learning more and more each day what it means to be an adult and I am grateful that I have my parents to help guide me in the areas that I do not understand as of yet. I know I am only 28 years old and do not know everything BUT I am willing to learn from my mistakes and embrace the changes around me. Has there been anything that you have learned in your adult life that still resonates with you today? Also, do you think that there's a better life for you once you exit your twenties? Why is it that people say 30 is the new 20? Is there something awaiting me in my 30's that will be thrilling? Let me know what you think about all of this below and have a happy Wednesday!

Always Living and Forever Learning,
