Happy Diaries: Buying My Son’s FIRST Halloweenie Book

Hey guys and welcome to a brand new blog post. I decided I wanted to do something true to my blog and that’s write a little happy diaries post. I have not written one of these in a long time so I am excited to share this little story with you.

I picked this book up in the Whole Foods line while waiting to check out. Honestly, I always imagined buying my son’s first book would be this big magical moment, something cinematic—me holding him on my hip, both of us carefully choosing the “perfect” story together. But in reality? He wasn’t even there. He was at home with his Honey and Pop Pop while I grocery shopped, balancing apples, oat milk, and a slightly impatient mood.

But none of that matters, because we still get to share this little moment later. That’s the magic—he doesn’t care where the book came from, or how unglamorous the errand was. All he’ll know is that Mama brought home a new story just for him, and that’s what makes it special.

I tucked it into the grocery bag between bananas and bread, and I smiled to myself. Sometimes, the “firsts” in motherhood aren’t picture-perfect. They sneak up on you in checkout lines, on late-night Amazon orders, or in quiet Target aisles. But that doesn’t make them any less meaningful.

Anyways, that’s all I wanted to share for now…I hope you guys are having a lovely week so far :)
