10 Ways I Want to Change My Life Before Turning 35

Turning 35 feels like a big milestone. It’s the age where people often look back at what they’ve accomplished and look forward to the future with a sense of urgency. For me, it’s a time to make intentional life changes—especially after having my baby. As I approach this personal turning point, here are the 10 ways I want to change my life before I hit 35.

1. Get My Finances Together

One of the biggest things I’m working on is getting my finances in order. I’ve always known the importance of money management, but now that I’m a mom, it feels even more crucial. I’m focusing on building a solid financial foundation by setting up a High-Yield Savings Account (HYSA) to grow my savings while getting a better handle on budgeting and saving. I want to have peace of mind knowing that I’m financially secure and ready for any unexpected challenges.

2. Move into a Bigger Space for Me and Baby

My current living situation has served me well, but now that I have a baby, I’m ready to find a bigger space where we can truly settle in. A larger home will allow us both to grow comfortably—both physically and emotionally. I dream of a space with more room for play, relaxation, and creativity. Moving isn’t just about finding a place—it’s about making sure my family has a cozy space that suits all our needs as we continue to grow.

3. Accept My New Body Post-Birth

After giving birth, my body has gone through some major changes—and let’s be real, it’s not always easy to embrace those changes. But I’m learning to love and accept my new body as it is. It’s part of the beautiful journey of motherhood. I’m no longer focusing on unrealistic expectations or the “bounce back” culture; instead, I’m focusing on health, strength, and self-love. This journey is all about celebrating my body’s strength and the incredible things it’s been through.

4. Spend More Time with Family

Life can get busy, especially with a baby and all the changes that come with adulthood. But one thing I want to prioritize more than ever before turning 25 is spending quality time with my family. This means not just the big events but the small, everyday moments: playing games, cooking together, and enjoying simple moments. It’s easy to get caught up in work and other obligations, but I want to make sure I cherish every moment I can with the people I love.

5. Start Building My Personal Brand and Business

The entrepreneurial side of me is constantly thinking about how I can build something bigger than just myself. Before I turn 25, I want to make serious strides in building my personal brand and business. This includes writing more, podcasting, and sharing my journey as a freelance writer and creative. I want to be able to connect with others who are also on this journey, build relationships, and grow my impact.

6. Practice Self-Care and Mental Health

Taking care of myself isn’t just about looking good—it’s about feeling good. I want to make self-care a priority, whether it’s through regular exercise, taking time to meditate, or simply enjoying a quiet moment by myself. My mental health is just as important as my physical health, and I want to ensure that I’m nurturing both. I plan to set aside time for personal reflection and activities that bring me joy, knowing that caring for myself helps me show up better for others.

7. Create More Memories with My Baby

Since becoming a mom, I’ve realized how fast time flies. I want to make sure that I’m present for every precious moment and create lasting memories with my baby. Whether it’s taking photos, exploring new places, or just spending quality time at home, I want to capture these moments before they slip away. I plan to document these moments, knowing that they will mean so much later on.

8. Get Organized and Simplify My Life

I’ve always been someone who’s a bit of a “planner,” but now I want to take it to the next level. Before turning 25, I want to really get organized and simplify my life. This includes decluttering my space, creating routines that make my days run smoother, and minimizing distractions. I want to focus on what matters most and let go of things that no longer serve me. It’s about creating mental space as much as it is about physical space.

9. Travel More and See New Places

I’m a firm believer in the power of travel to expand your mind and refresh your soul. Before I turn 25, I want to take more trips—whether it’s weekend getaways or big vacations. I want to explore new places, even if it’s just within my own city or state. Travel doesn’t always have to mean a far-away destination; sometimes, it’s just about exploring the unknown and breaking free from the routine.

10. Embrace the Process and Let Go of Perfection

Perfectionism can be a real barrier to growth, and I’m ready to let go of that need for everything to be just right. Before 35, I want to embrace the messy process of life. I want to enjoy the journey of figuring things out and trust that everything doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. It’s time to give myself permission to fail, to try new things, and to grow through it all.
